The Storyteller Who Brought Past to Present

Mohammed Yahia (Al-Hajjay) is a Sudanese writer and storyteller who dedicated his Life to transform Sudanese folktales and history to take fashionable forms.

Situation Appraisal

Al-Hajjay’s project was to re-introduce Sudanese fables and stories through modern means including comics, animation, games etc… to form a bond with the youth and strength their ties with their identity. We were in charge of bringing these goals to light through moderating Al-Hajjay’s social media channel and the production of his book ‘’Fables from Sudan’’.

Challenges

In order to form a bridge between Al-Hajjay and the targeted audience to relive the amazing historical tales, creative ideas were needed in Al-Hajjay social media channel. As for ‘’Fables from Sudan’’ book who was targeting children. A thorough research through the proper introduction of the stories and bringing additional flavor to them through digital art was made.

Roadmap Formation

Social media strategy for Al-Hajjay were determined and the steps to bring Al-Hajjay’s book ‘’Fables from Sudan’’ to light were carried out.

The Journey So Far

“Fables from Sudan’’; a book that is directed toward children with the touch of modern art was brought to Life, couple of stories that brings meaningful teachings from local culture to future leaders. The book comes in two languages so far (Arabic and English) that can be bought as a soft or hard copy. An animation video introducing the book to the world was made with participation of our sister company Cloud Aster animation studio. Al-Hajjay social media channel thrived with engaging content that brought the audience a step closer to its treasured history, and this is but a sparkle of brighter projects to come!

“Fables from Sudan” is not a mere book for children, it’s a phoenix rebirth of a long forgotten identity that carried generations with solid and praiseworthy principles known to the entire world. The book will serve as a starting point to rebuild the proud, unified, loving community we once was.

Cultural Bonding

The numerous engaging content with the audience through fables resulted in a tighter bond between grandparents, parents and children alike bringing family together in times where most of us got chained into uncertain virtual connections straying us away from our identity.

An Inspiration for The Youth

Following his vision, Mohammed Yahia always dreamed of passing the title of “Al-Hajjay” to generations to come around the country and there was no better way in showing how things are done than a real demonstration which was brought to them in ‘’Fables from Sudan’’.

Broader Horizons!

“Fables from Sudan” project and Al-Hajjay’s digital presence is undoubtedly an open invitation to all institutes, organizations and fellow creative individuals to embark on future mutual projects that answer the call of nation, art and culture.
